Agritourism for Families in Umbria
An authentic agritourism in Umbria for families, where everyone has his or her space and can become carefree again
Let’s not talk about entertainment and mini-clubs: this is an agritourism for families in Umbria, where people can once again find the precious time to spend together while in contact with nature: outdoor games and the beauty of small things.
Our playground is unspoilt nature, with everything it has to offer, including the sighting of rare birds and wild animals around the farm houses. You can venture farther afield into the wooded areas or to the coasts of Lake Trasimeno.
Two swimming pools in front of the two farm houses (the Rio di Sopra Farm and Piratello) are the perfect place for playing during the warm summer hours and for regaining that fresh and lively carefree feeling in every season.
In the midst of fields cultivated with olive groves and vineyards which produce bunches of grapes that shine in the autumn sun, we designed and constructed comfortable, spacious apartments for families of all kinds, whether for families of three or four, with teenagers, young children or new-borns. In our view, the most genuine sense of an agritourism for children consists in simple authenticity.
The geographic location of our agritourism is perfect for visiting Umbria and Tuscany and enjoying the main points of interest, including those for children. One thing to do for certain is a bike ride all together around Lake Trasimeno, where you’ll have wonderful views and be able to admire the herons. In summer you can even take a swim. While the region doesn’t have its own seaside, its lake is like a sea, with perfectly clean water (each year Legambiente gives it the rating of ‘5 blue sails’, while Touring Club Italiano awards it the ‘orange flag’). We highly recommend a boat trip to reach the islands for a moving experience.
Our agritourism is quite close to Perugia, which in addition to its historical and cultural riches offers a visit to the Casa del Cioccolato, the factory where Perugina chocolates are made. Master chocolatiers will take children on a journey to discover cocoa! Perugia further hosts the Post (Perugia Officina Scienza Tecnologia), which organises a number of activities and educational workshops for children of all ages.
Not far from the city is located the Città della Domenica, the first recreation park in Italy, where you can see animals in their habitats, take a train ride and relive fairy tales in small thematic villages.
Families looking for adventure will find dozens of things to do together at the Activo Park and at Saltalbero (where we often go as well!), from rafting to canyoning, or at the Cascata delle Marmore, a beautiful waterfall which is also the perfect place for group adventures.
